Seeing the Northern Lights brought me to tears.
In March 2016, I went up to Anchorage, Alaska to meet with my friends Jerry, David and Ricardo to visit for the week, and to see the Northern Lights. Seeing the aurora borealis was in the top 5 items in my bucket list. So I found myself making a quick plan this year, so I could be there at the right time to see them well. The northern lights aren’t always “on”, so there was a chance we wouldn’t see them… but we did! We got lucky. But I think my weeks and weeks of research also set us up well, and in the end, it paid off!
We spent a few days at the beginning and the end of the trip in Anchorage, with a 6 hour road trip to Fairbanks to join our friend Jeff and see the Northern Lights up close. On our way back south, we stopped at Chena Hot Springs, and then Talkeetna for lunch. Lots of museums and Alaskan Native culture in between. I was blown away by how cool the whole place was. I highly recommend making the journey!
