I’m a sand dunes freak.
I absolutely love sand dunes. I try to visit any dunes that are along my path, and this one just happened to be close enough to the interstate, while on my Thanksgiving road trip, to warrant a visit. These softly rolling mounds of sand were in a little state park called Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Utah, and the sand was indeed the color of coral. It was in between Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley. I had stayed overnight at the Stratford Inn in Cedar City the night before, having visited Bryce Canyon that day, and I headed toward Monument Valley in the morning around 8:30am.
The day was mostly driving. I had not planned on stopping by this little state park, but I saw the sign along my route, and being a huge fan of sand dunes anywhere (I usually try to seek them out), and seeing that it was only 12 miles off the main road, I was excited to investigate.
